Hello, my love bugs!
Long time no see!😋😋 How have you all been!? This is a different post from my other ones and I’m so very excited to share with you all! As many other people, my main goal of 2016 (and every year) is to be a healthier version of myself! I mean let’s get real, I know I eat waaaay too much over the holidays and my sleep schedule gets all wack! So to start off 2016 I wanted to eat healthier, exercise daily (no excuses), sleep, read, and relax more! All these things will benefit my mind and body so much and I’m excited to say I have successfully eaten healthy for a week (baby steps) and I feel so much better already, plus I’ve lost three pounds so far! 🙆🏼 Let’s get into some examples of what I’ve been eating!
1. Smoothie!
First, I got this cute little on the go blender for Christmas and it is my absolute favorite! Plus it’s so stinkin’ cute! You blend everything in this cup and that’s it, only one dirty cup to clean after you’re done drinking it! Quick and easy for college students and I believe it was only $25 at target! You can obviously make any kind of smoothie you’d like but this is what I like:
- Banana
- Strawberries (frozen)
- Raspberries (frozen)
- Blueberries (frozen)
- Vanilla yogurt (low fat)
- Ice
I know some people put different greens and seeds etc. in their smoothies, but that kinda freaks me out because I’m a weirdo. Eventually I’ll talk myself into trying it, but for now, fruit works perfectly fine! I like to drink this as my breakfast and let me tell you it gives me so much energy to get through whatever the day has to offer! I also don’t crash from it like an energy drink/soda would do!
2. Pasta Salad!
OK OK OK This is super yummy, it’s my favorite because I love noodles and every veggie in it! Food like this is good for picky people because you can put whatever you like in it! I usually have pepperoni in my Pasta salads, but I took that out because it isn’t necessarily that good for you! I used cherry tomatoes, green peppers, cucumber, cheddar & pepper jack cheese, whole wheat pasta, and low-fat Italian dressing!
3. Sleepy Tea! 😴💤
I pop in a sleepy time tea k-cup into my Keurig and it’s that simple! I also put some lemons in it instead of sugar to give it more of an enjoyable taste! This is a perfect way to relax your mind before bed. A tip to fall asleep earlier that helps me is to put my phone, iPad, or laptop down. I feel like looking at screens like that keeps your mind awake. Instead, you can read a book and before you know it you’ll be feeling ready to hit the hay!😴
4. Pita Pocket & Hummus!
I just found out that I am a huge fan of hummus. I tried it for the first time this week and I’m obsessed! So here’s a to go hummus and pretzel thins package that i’m sure can be found at any local grocery store! I had that as a side with a turkey sandwich with some cheese and lettuce in a whole wheat pita pocket! Typically I only eat half on the sandwich at a time and safe the other half for another time. Cut your portions you typically eat in half, you’ll be surprised in how half the food can fill you up!
5. Celery/Cheese!
And lastly, I cut up some cheese into slices that would fit on some crackers as well as some celery with Jif to go peanut butter cups! I put them into different colored lunch bags for fun so it would be easy for me to grab when I’m running late (which is almost always)! I typically take these to work to eat on my break or they’re good for in-between class snacks! It’s also much cheaper than buying things in the cafeteria and I know all we broke college kids love to save money!
Some other things I’ve been eating:
- Whole wheat bagel thin w low fat cream cheese
- Apple slices w peanut butter
- Chicken & brown rice
- Guacamole
- Whole wheat pasta w low sugar marinara sauce
- Clementines
- Whole wheat mini pizzas w low sugar sauce & cheese
- Chicken salad
- Coffee with no sugar
- Low-fat string cheese
- Eggs
- Kind bars
- Lots & lots of water
Just to clarify.. this is what I like and what I consider healthier from what i’m used to eating! I am someone who has lived off chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, and pizza my entire life so for me this is a huge step up! I’ll be adding to this post over the next few days as I try more heathy meals. I was just too excited to share what I’ve ate this week with you all! I know this is different from my previous posts but different is good! As always I want to thank you for stopping by my site and I hope you try these out! 😊😊
Best wishes,
Lexi 🌻 xo
