Hi, friends.
🍂🌼🍃
Welcome back or welcome if you’re new here. I’m Lex and I’m glad you decided to stop by! How are y’all today? Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? For me, I hope to get myself involved in some fall activities, but I do have a good bit of school work to attend to (blahhhh). The first week of fall has gone pretty good for me, the weather actually feels crisp and I was able to wear such cute fall pieces. Last weekend I decided to take the time to bring up my fall sweaters, jeans, flannels, etc and pack away all my summer dresses and tops. I’m sad to see the summer sunshine go, but if I’m being completely honest, fall fashion is the best. It’s like something happens to my little soul as soon as I put on a flannel and a cardigan with some booties. Ahhh, gosh I love it.
Last weekend, I cleaned and organized my closet all the way through and posted a picture of the finished product on my insta. I actually got a ton of people who messaged me about it and asking for tips. I was kinda shocked because I have had my closet organized the same way for years. So, I thought it would be a fun idea to show y’all how I organize my (very teeny tiny) closet for fall and my tips! So without further ado, let’s get started!
-
If you have your closet open for display, you're more than likely going to do your best to keep it clean and organized. I personally like not having closet doors anymore and being able to see my closet, this has helped me keep it clean and put things back rather than throwing it on my floor.
-
Hang all sweaters by color - I do this because it helps everything look more ascetically pleasing to the eye and my closet is a big focal point in my room so it's important for it to look nice.
-
Hang everything else by sleeve length -- again, it's very eye-pleasing and simply better, makes things easier to find.
-
Keep the majority of your shoes in storage bins under your bed and keep your most warn shoes somewhere in your closet for an easy grab and god. All my bins are all from Target.
-
Raise the bar if you can. It might look silly, but when you boost the bar higher, you can fit more below your clothes (genius). Then, you can squeeze a dresser or shoe rack underneath your hung-up garments. I use plastic drawers to hold more clothes that can't be hung.
-
Fold all your sweatshirts and hoodies out so they're easy to see and easy to grab if you have a top shelf like me. Keep it in shape. Fold everything so you'll be able to see what you have so you won't make a mess trying to find something.
-
Use all the same colored hangers and make sure they're all going the same way -- the ones I'm using are from target $1.99 for 18 and they're strong and sturdy. Use the cheap hangers, I've used nice velvet hangers and they actually always break. Wooden ones are nice, but pricey and take up too much room.
-
If you're a nut like me with a million blanket scarves, fold them like your sweatshirts for easy access and so you're able to see them all when you're getting ready and don't end up making a mess of them or leaving them wrinkled.
-
Belts and purses, bins under your bed, or only keep out the most used. You must occupy the small space you have as much as possible. Use hall closets for larger items, like coats or vests.
-
Hang your purse or hats on an over the door hook. I've done this for years, it looks cute and is easy access.
Having a small closet and a lot of crap is always challenging, but it can be easily made to work. Invest in storage bins, good hangers, use hall closets, keep things organized and you’ll be fine! Switch out your clothes every season as needed.
Also, If you have any extra tips or suggestions for me, I love to hear them so please comment down below! I hope y’all enjoyed my tips.
