Hi, friends.
Welcome back or welcome if you’re new here! My name’s Lex and I’m so glad you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. With all the things going on in the world right now, it feels almost impossible to be inspired. For those of you who don’t know, I live on my own in a townhouse just outside of the city and I commute to Duquesne University. I’m a senior studying Supply Chain Management and Digital Marketing. With the way the semester seems to be heading, it looks like I will be spending a lot of time at home, taking my entire semester online. For me, it is critical to have a space that is warm and welcoming, comfortable, and cozy, and all-around somewhere I enjoy spending my time, especially under these unusual circumstances.
The last few months I’ve been working remotely back and forth with The Home Depot for their 2020 Back to Class Campaign and I’m SO excited to reveal it to y’all! The goal for me was to redesign my bedroom and my entry area to my townhouse and let me just tell y’all, this has been my favorite collaboration to date. The Home Depot sells furniture, wall decor, and many small appliances perfect for every college student!
When I picture my bedroom, I picture a space that is warm, bright, cozy, fun, and livable all at the same time. Think soft, welcoming whites with saturated pops of yellow, and warm, farmhouse accents. The Home Depot had everything I needed to create a perfectly cozy space for a college student who will be starting her career not too long from now. However, I never want to leave my bed in the morning due to the coziness. I guess you can’t win ‘em all! Personally, I think a full matching bedroom set is very out of style and can be overwhelming in a smaller bedroom. I decided to mix two different sets and I think they complement each other better than I pictured it in my mind. My dressers are a rustic looking white wood. And let me tell y’all, they are SO well made and came already built! The drawers open so easily and the extra storage baskets at the bottom of the tall dresser give it a unique touch compared to any other dressers I’ve looked at. My nightstands are everything I’ve ever wanted with its farmhouse grey style. The online pictures don’t even give these lamps justice to their beauty, they’re made from glass with a plain cream lampshade. They’re a bigger lamp, but with the transparent glass, it doesn’t make it overwhelming for the space. I’m obsessed with the ruffles in their Home Decorators Collection bedding. Then, their StyleWell boho rug that ties it all together! I planned this all out for weeks and once the items started arriving I couldn’t believe how well it all came together. It’s now a place I never want to leave!

Then, we have my entryway space. I don’t know any other way to describe this space other than awkward. This is a wall in my living room that I never knew how to decorate. The front door isn’t too far from it and neither is the entryway to my kitchen. I wanted to add more seating that would center into the rest of my living room for when I have guests over, but also be similar to an entryway because it’s right next to the front door. While partnering with THD, I got everything I wanted and more. A perfect loveseat that fits the area and doesn’t overwhelm the space, but also a farmhouse sliding entryway table that makes a nice focal point when you walk into my townhouse. A place to set your keys, kick off your shoes, and then a cozy spot not too far ahead to get comfortable on. Not to mention, my favorite part of this small loveseat besides its coziness, it also pops out into a twin-sized bed! It’s PERFECT for when I have a friend(s) stay over. It’s tiny, comfortable, and so very practical for a smaller living space in college. Top of the loveseat with a knitted blanket, a boho patterns pouf, then a blanket ladder between the two, I have myself everything I wanted.
I decorated the entryway table with these adorable vases, battery-powered lanterns, and my favorite farmhouse piece from the Home Decorators Collection to tie it all together. I hide shoes in the closed side of the table and it’s a perfect way to maintain a small space with guests (a win, win).
